What counts as an emergency
- A burning smell, scorch marks, or a socket or switch that is hot to touch
- Complete loss of power, or a breaker that trips again the moment it's reset
- Sparking, arcing, or a bang from a board, socket or appliance
- Water reaching electrics — a leak above a light fitting, a flooded cellar or outbuilding
- Exposed or damaged live cable after building work or a storm
- A business unable to trade — no power to tills, chillers, ovens or machinery
What to do in an emergency
If it is safe to do so: switch off at the consumer unit, unplug whatever you suspect, and keep people away from the area. Don't keep resetting a breaker that trips straight back — it's protecting you from something, and repeatedly forcing it back on is how a fault becomes a fire.
On arrival
The first job is always to make it safe, then to find the actual cause rather than the symptom. Sometimes that means an immediate permanent repair; sometimes it means isolating one circuit so you get the rest of your power back tonight and we return to do the job properly in daylight.

Are you really available at night and weekends?
Yes — emergencies are covered 24 hours, seven days. Planned work runs on weekdays.
My breaker keeps tripping — is that an emergency?
If it trips once and resets cleanly, it may just be a failed appliance: unplug things one at a time to find it. If it trips again immediately, or you can smell burning, stop resetting it and call us.
What areas do you cover for emergencies?
Wells and the surrounding Somerset area, including Street, Glastonbury, Cheddar, Wedmore and the Mendip villages. Call to check availability.
Can you get my power back on the same visit?
Usually — either with a full repair, or by safely isolating the faulty circuit so the rest of the property works while we arrange the permanent fix.
